Report on Training Camp held for Womens’ SHG’s on production of good quality clay bricks

This training was conducted by TNDTF with the aim of improving the knowledge of local women’s SHG’s (Self Help groups) in the production of good quality bricks as well as in facilitating improved livelihood opportunities
The training programme started with the Women’s Self Help Groups explaining the process by which they were producing clay bricks till date. Resource Person Mr.Ramesh Premkumar then went on to explain how to make good quality clay bricks. He laid stress on the following steps:
1.Un Soiling 2.Digging 3.Cleaning 4. Blending 5.Mixing 6.Tempering 7.Moulding 8.Drying 9.Burning
Along with the discussions, there was ’Hands On’ practice (of making clay bricks at site by the WSHG members along with the resource persons Mr. Ramesh, Mr. Praveen, Ms. Saraswathi and Mr.Shankar. The programme concluded with all the participants clearing whatever doubts they had.
The participants also gave positive feedback regarding the programme.
